For the interdisciplinary book “To LIVE heißt Leben und LIEBE heißt Love” by Fabienne Hollwege, I translated and recorded the poems “And you” and “Goodbye” as well as the short story “Maja”. Music and sound on these tracks are by Brian Acton.

“Goodbye” and Maja” are part of the enclosed music album CD. All three pieces can also be accessed via QR codes embedded in the book, or have a listen to them below.

ABOUT THE BOOK

“To LIVE heißt Leben und LIEBE heißt Love” is a diverse collection of different text types and media. From a feminist perspective, Fabienne Hollwege addresses questions about being a woman and being free: What does it mean in our fast-paced society to be, simultaneously, a mother, lover and an artist? How can one separate those strange notions which have become social norms, which have blended with the grey tones of the everyday, from ourselves, and consider them anew?
The author asks these questions with humorous honesty, and performs an almost impossible balancing act between these incongruous roles. The design of the book reflects this multidimensionality: when unfolded, even the dust cover becomes a reversible poster. The book includes the author’s first music album, produced in collaboration with MASKéNADA. The songs can be listened to via a CD integrated in the book and QR codes.

Publisher: Éditions Guy Binsfeld:
The project was supported by Maskénada and the
