Hiks and Vlek are different.
They are two highly talented, multi-professional breadwinners with widely useful qualifications.
The clerk in charge of their case at the unemployment office describes them as ‘difficult to place’.
One job after another they successfully defy any labour market integration measure.
After traffic policing (the accident was not their fault!), mobile nursing and retailing, they take up a new challenge, running a curious market stall, trying to sell peculiar, vastly overprized cocktail tomatoes.
